1 hour from Manfriday's, what's been called Kenya's "Grand Canyon in miniature". An amazing site where rainwater erosion has created a multi-hued spectacle of rock cliffs and gorges.
Gede Ruins
40 minutes from Manfriday's, from the 13th to 17th centuries Gedi was a thriving community along the jungle coast of East Africa. Although no written record exists of this town, excavations revealed that the Muslim inhabitants traded with people from all over the world.
Long since abandoned, the Ruins are now an archealogical site of the first order, with beautiful examples of Arab coastal architecture and town layouts.
Manfriday's itself has been designed from ideas taken from Gede and other Arab stone towns.
